It is a general question but how do we increase the revenue of adsense and affiliate? For affiliate program, is it better to promote specific products or general products and website? Is it better to use banner referal link or text link?

Hey Sam,
Firstly thank you for contributing to the blog and furthermore you may help others by asking good questions. I appreciate it and others will also.
In terms of adsense, I got a bump in earnings when I got good incoming links form High PR blogs, in other words good incoming links will help both with your SEO and the relative authority of your site.
Additionally, think of it this way, advertisers want traffic and the more your site gets good traffic from good quality links the more they are prepared to pay because your site will get a better quality visitor especially if you start ranking for targeted keywords.
You can also think of it this way, as an advertiser what would you want from your advertising, good quality traffic that converts right?
In Google’s smart pricing it has been suggested that they track conversions relative to ads on your site to check the quality of your traffic.
Better quality equals better income for you, so in terms of your site get quality links and add quality content.
In terms of affiliate programs, specific in my humble testing has always proved to be better, if you have too many choices you get confused when visiting a site, that is why those one page sales letters convert well, the less distractions the better, make it simple for your site visitor to get to your most desired action which is clicking on your affiliate link.
The more that click your link the better chance you have of converting.
Again in my experience I prefer text link to a banner, CTR on a banner for me has been nowhere close to that of text link that is imbedded in a pre-sell message leading to an affiliate offer.

Hey Sam,
To be honest my Adsense revenue goes up and down like a Yo Yo, that is why I would not suggest it as the primary monetization model. Adsense can be helpful at first to get your confidence going as you get to see that it is possible to make some money online, however unless you have serious traffic then you will not have serious income.
